COAT OF FLESH - CD

The name of this project comes out of who we are and where we are. We are R&B, soul, hip hop, jazz, reggae, funk, and gospel. We are everyday people that God/Yahweh brought out of drugs, prostitution, unfulfilled dreams and nightmares, deceit, disbelief, deception, betrayal, abuse, loneliness. The music is also about love. Basically, our music is about our lives; how God can take nothing and make something. If God can make the world in 6 days over and over and over, He can restore love to the brokenhearted and get us through life’s struggles victoriously.

The CD’s first single is “Back To Work” a soul anthem that deals with the struggle of going to your Jay Oh Bee when you would much rather be spending your time the way you see fit—chillin, being with your loved ones, or simply pursuing your wildest dreams. But you can’t because you: “gotta go back to work”! This is something that grown folks know.

The beauty of being grown is that your wisdom and experience makes you forever sexy. One of our favorite tunes is “Grown Folks’ Music.” Everybody over the age of 21 is not Grown. “When you Grown there’s some stuff you ain’t on.”

Songs such as “In Joy,” “Sound of the Rain,” “If We Choose To,” "Written In My Heart," and “Losin’ It” reflect aspects of love such as joy, pain, longsuffering, and love’s power. The ballad, “Life’s Mysteries” is a song that touches on a difficult topic—the loss of a child. In this song, we hope to encourage the brokenhearted. “Happy Music” says everybody has bills and ills, and a host of issues, but shake it off with positive vibes. Drawing from our Jamaican roots, the song “Daytime Minutes” is a reggae-inflected tune lamenting the desire and need to be connected to loved ones via our cell phones, buying minutes and airtime on family plans to download (unnecessary) stuff!

We hope you feel us.
